Ashlynn Conner, 10 years old of Ridge farm, Illinois was found dead inside her bedroom closet by her sister. She had endured bullying inside and outside of school. Ashlynn was an honor student in the fifth grader at Ridge Farm Elementary School.
Her mother stated on WCIA-TV., “I thought my kids are strong kids, and that my words for them for guidance and advice was going to have more weight than what these kids could be saying.” Ashlynn had asked her mother if she could be homeschooled the evening before she committed suicide. The family is now trying to spread awareness of bullying and it’s affects on people. Counselors will be available at the school on Monday November 14, 2011. Visitation is scheduled for November 15, 2011 from 3 p.m-7 p.m at Sunset’s Houghton Leasure Funeral chapel. A celebration of life is scheduled for November 16, 2011 at 1 p.m.
