Ashley Wagner’s name has come to the top of the list for the U.S. Olympic team figure skating. The talented athlete has been readying herself for the 2014 Sochi Olympics, but it appears she will have another opportunity as well. According to the USA Today on Tuesday, the figure skater will be leading in the women's short program Saturday night. Gracie Gold is rumored to be skating the long program Sunday night.

The decision will be made official on Wednesday, but if there are no major injuries or complications, the decision makes sense. Putting Wagner on the ice first gives her a chance to deliver a clean short program and helps the team. It will also restore any confidence she might have lost after her latest performance on the ice.

The new event for the Sochi Olympics has some figure skaters uninterested in competing for the team. Drawing away from the personal performances, some of the athletes and their coaches are uncomfortable with the idea of not having the spotlight individually. Of course the individual competitions are coming later, but the adjustment seems to be difficult as the figure skating community is very competitive.

The official announcement for the U.S. Olympic team figure skating is expected on Wednesday morning. Fans of Olympic figure skating can hardly wait to find out!
