Tuesday night, Ashley Judd and husband, Dario Franchitti announced that they are splitting after eleven years of marriage, according to a statement they released to US Weekly. Tuesday evening, US Weekly published the statement on their website from Ashley Judd and Dario Franchitti. Judd, 44, is an actress and Franchitti, 39, is a race car driver.
The news has created an Internet buzz Wednesday because the couple has been so supportive of each other and their careers over the last ten years of their marriage. Judd was often seen at Franchitti’s races and he escorted her to numerous awards ceremonies.
This is the statement that the couple released Tuesday evening:
We have mutually decided to end our marriage. We'll always be family and continue to cherish our relationship based on the special love, integrity, and respect we have always enjoyed.
A few hours later, Ashley Judd tweeted:
Family forever. @dariofranchitti.
Then Dario Franchitti tweeted:
@ashleyjudd family forever.
Judd and Franchitti married on December 12, 2001 in Scotland. The wedding took place at a castle and Franchitti's Scottish heritage was displayed in the ceremony.
Franchitti has won the Indianapolis 500 three times, and most recently last year. Judd was nominated for an Emmy last year for her role in Missing. The couple did not have any children together.
