Ashley Judd is the center of attention for conservative super PAC American Crossroads. According to a Feb. 6 report in the Wall Street Journal, the group has released an ad mocking Judd who is considering a run against Kentucky Republican Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell in 2014.
In the ad, Crossroads labels Judd a Hollywood Obama-loving radical liberal who hails from Tennessee. The video puts together a montage of Judd saying things that could potentially put a wrinkle in her bid to run in Kentucky, including her statement that she is “committed to President Obama and Vice President Biden.” There is also the piece where she delightfully declares that “she is aggressively and delightfully radical.”
The ad will reportedly run online in targeted ZIP codes in Kentucky and its goal is to issue a preemptive strike strong enough to make Judd reconsider her decision to run, according to Crossroads spokesman Jonathan Collegio.
“For a novice in politics who may not have a taste of what the NFL is like, this is just a taste for her of what would be much more to come,” Collegio said. “We want to stick a pin in her balloon.”
Judd for her part, has issued a statement through her publicist thanking Crossroads for the free publicity. “Ashley thanks Senator McConnell, Karl Rove, and their negative allies for all the attention as she considers her future political plans, although a decision hasn’t been made yet,” the statement said.
