Ashley Judd and her husband, race car driver Dario Franchitti, are ending their marriage after 11 years of not-so-wedded bliss.
The couple issued a statement,
"We have mutually decided to end our marriage. We'll always be family and continue to cherish our relationship based on the special love, integrity, and respect we have always enjoyed."
The 44-year-old actress and 39-year-old three-time Indianapolis 500 winner were married at a castle in Scotland, Franchitti’s home country, in December 2001.
In an interview in 2010, Judd revealed that she and Franchitti did a daily “appreciation exercise” that strengthened their marriage saying, “The point is, we're always so quick to say, 'That hurt my feelings,' so how about being as quick to say, 'I really appreciated it when you turned the TV down so we could hear each other.' Dario and I do an appreciation every day."
Ashley is the daughter of country music singer Naomi Judd and half-sister of Wynonna Judd. She recently added politics to her acting repertoire when she represented Tennessee as a delegate to the 2012 Democratic National Convention. It’s being reported that she is considering running for U.S. Senate in her home state of Kentucky.
