The 2014 “Miss Indian World Pageant” was held on Thursday evening April 24 in the “Albuquerque Convention Center” at downtown Albuquerque, N.M. 23 Native American & Indigenous young women performed their best in the traditional talent category. The packed audience was told not to take pictures during the performances out of respect to the sacred traditional songs, dances & languages of each tribe represented.

Native pop singer Inez Jasper opened the evening with an upbeat song. The reigning “Miss Indian World 2013” Kansas Begaye also came out to sing & gave a short farewell speech. Comedians James & Ernie got the audience laughing & asked everyone to join them at “Stage 49” during the “Gathering of Nations” (GON) Powwow.
