Ashley Boalch crowned Miss District of Columbia 2011

A lifelong resident of Washington, DC was crowned Miss District of Columbia 2011 Sunday night at The Arena Stage.

Ashley, 23, is a student at the University of Maryland.

Her pageant platform is, “Empowering Our Youth.”

Ashley’s pageant talent is vocalist.

In addition to her personal platform, she will campaign on behalf of Children’s Miracle Network of Hospitals and other causes supported by the Miss America Organization and its District of Columbia affiliate.

“You probably already know that I’m very involved with the Miss America Organization, but you probably didn’t know that I’m also working closely with Children’s Miracle Network to raise funds for local children’s hospitals,” she wrote on the Miss America for Kids website.

“The Miss America Organization has teamed up with Children's Miracle Network to help raise money for children’s hospitals in communities throughout the United States.”

“I am really looking forward to having the opportunity to showcase the rich culture of Washington, D.C. through the Miss American Scholarship Program,” she wrote on her Facebook page.

She lists her personal interests as “meeting awesome people, hanging out with great kids, reading Steig Larsson novels (and) walking around Georgetown.”
