Chris Bower and his team in Asheville, NC are working on a full-length film called Moon Europa, building off of the ideas in their short film Solatrium. To create this science fiction love story on a budget, Bower's "pushes guerilla D.I.Y. filmmaking to the limits" by using completely recycled materials to create the futuristic sets.
Solatrium had it's premiere screening early this year at the Slamdance Film Festival. In February, it had a screening in it's home city of Asheville and on May 12th it will show at the Santa Cruz Film Festival.

From this short film, Bower's has decided to expand the story into a feature-length film, Moon Europa. He and his crew are currently hoping to complete the project this summer if they can find the funds.

Looking at the set, it's hard to tell that it is all recycled material, especially with the quality camera work. In fact, most of the set is made of styrofoam of various shapes and sizes, salvaged from various places. The rest is materials Bower's found or was given to him by friends. Bower has posted photos from the filmmaking process and explained some of the set materials and where they come from. Very interesting.
