Arvada West High School hosted the Junior Varsity cheerleading and poms competition this past weekend. With thirty schools competing for the ultimate prize it was a full day of cheers, dancing, gymnastics and a crowd rooting for their favorite cheerleading or poms team. And Arvada West High School was a perfect place to hold the competition.
These students have worked hard for this day and their spirit was overflowing. There were a couple of teams that could not show. One of those being Arapahoe High School. Going around the gym, hallways and practice gym, all teams while warming up were saying a prayer and for those students, faculty and families involved with the Arapahoe High School tragedy this past week.
While some teams included both male and females, all teams showed their athleticism to perform the tricks and stunts they did. Some came with a price to pay in the extent of knees being taken care of by trainers, broken bones and sprains.
But all the teams were fantastic and the judges had a tough time narrowing the field of all teams to the ones that made it into the finals. The overall winners though were the entire group at the end cheering "We love Arapahoe".
Arvada West High School and all involved deserve a great cheer for their expertise in hosting a great day.
