Spring is only a couple of months away and many cities are preparing for the spring, summer, and fall festivals. The City of Atlanta has many events leading up to the spring season, as does the City of Savannah. Most of these events are family events; some of the events are especially arranged for children. This Saturday, the City of Savannah will host a pre-spring event for pre-school aged children. During the event, the children will prepare for the spring season by learning about the lifecycle of a butterfly. Using “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” by Eric Carle as a base, the children will walk through the science and miracle of transformation.
During the, “Youth Workshop, Preschool Caterpillar” your child will create a 3D model of a caterpillar and a butterfly. From 10 am until 12 pm on February 18th, Layla Mayville will guide children ages 4-6 through a fun learning experience. Has your child read “The Very Hungry Caterpillar?” If you are not familiar with this Eric Carle book, pick it up at your local bookstore. If you’re in Savannah this weekend, visit the Cultural Affairs Department located at 9 West Henry Street.
