The Barnstable Tourism Mini–Grant Program, which is jointly administered by the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce and the Hyannis Area Chamber of Commerce have announced the recipients of their 2011 grants. History, art, music and gardening programs will all benefit from this economic boost.
Cape Cod outdoor arts and music encouraged by Tourism Grants
Three grant recipients will use their funding to continue outdoor art and music programs, which are an important part of the Cape Cod tourism scene. The Hyannis Main Street Business Improvement District got funding for their Summer Music Stroll. Harbor Your Arts in Hyannis was given further support, as was the Cape Cod Art Association’s Art on the Village Green program.
Tourism Grants support history, community gardening center and more
Funding was given to aid the National Railway Historical Society's Cape Cod Chapter in its planned celebration of the 100 th anniversary of the West Barnstable Train Station. The Cape Cod Maritime Museum’s Maritime Festival in June, part of the month–long Cape Cod Maritime Days celebration, got a boost as well.
The Osterville Village Events Directory and Patron Expansion Initiative at the Cotuit Center for the Arts were grantees as well. The Meetinghouse Farm Community Garden program in West Barnstable will also receive much needed funds to be able to continue to provide local gardeners with greenhouse space for starting plants and garden plots on the Meetinghouse Farm Conservation Area property.
In these difficult economic times, providing local funding for some of Cape Cod’s tourism–based organizations is a way of showing support for the efforts of these groups who help to bring tourists to the Cape.
