Happy New Year, Kentucky! I’m writing to pass on an opportunity to join in a nation wide conference call with Art and Democracy, for those of you interested in continuing the discussions begun in the workshop at Hopscotch House (Louisville) in November. I think this may be of special interest to those of you that listed the environment as one of the activist foci of your work.

Join us for this nation-wide conference call on the role of arts, culture and media in environmental justice organizing and movement building in communities across the United States.
This call features the work of Monique Verdin (My Louisiana Love) and Nick Slie (Cry You One) and their creative responses to the environmental devastation of the Gulf Coast. We will also hear from Laura Muraida about the environmental organizing of Southwest Workers Union and Hodari Davis about the celebratory actions of Life Is Living.
I also want to respond to those of you who indicated that you might benefit from an opportunity to follow up on the conversations and connections that began to develop during the workshop. If you are interested in self-organizing and meeting again as a group, or in smaller groups, to support each other, share stories, discuss work, or create work please feel free to contact me about time at Hopscotch House in the coming months. I would be happy to work with you to find a time for a day or something longer.
In Art and Community,
Erin Fletcher
Interim Hopscotch House Coordinator
