Since its opening in 1997, art enthusiasts and critics alike have regarded ArtPalmBeach as one of the most influential contemporary art fairs on Florida's Gold Coast. From January 20-23, 2012, ArtPalmBeach celebrates its 15th anniversary at the Palm Beach County Convention Center, giving southwest Florida art enthusiasts and collectors another venue at which to preview and purchase outstanding fine art.
One feature that sets ArtPalmBeach apart from they myriad other fine art fairs and festivals that take place on both the Gold Coast and in southwest Florida is its outstanding lecture and panel discussion series. In 2012, ArtPalmBeach will present a full program of daily presentations, including:
- Michael Kimmelman, Chief Critic of the New York Times,“The View from Over There, Over Here”;
- Jun Kaneko, “In Between”;
- William Warmus, Former Curator of Modern Glass at Corning Museum of Glass will moderate a roundtable discussion, “The Studio Glass Experiment – The First 50 Years 1962-2012”;
- a thought provoking panel moderated by Bruce Helander, Editor-in-Chief of The Art Economist;
- Willis “Buzz” Hartshorn of International Center of Photography, “The ICP Legacy and New Directions in Photography”;
- Ullysees Dietz, Curator of Decorative Arts at the Newark Museum, “Ceramics as Art, Not a New Idea”; and
- Mark Leach, Executive Director of the SECCA, Southeastern Center of Contemporary Art will present “The New SECCA and its New Directions in Contemporary Art”.
Presentations such as these provide art enthusiasts and serious collectors an unparalled opportunity to plug in to the latest trends in the local, national and international art markets, with many speakers providing behind-the-scenes information, insights and sound advice.
ArtPalmBeach 2012 welcomes back many returning exhibitors as well as introducing newcomers to the Palm Beach art scene. The fair is comprised of over seventy international galleries presenting works of all forms of contemporary art including painting, sculpture, photography, design, fine art glass, video and installations from modern art to new cutting-edge artists.
The event is organized by David and Lee Ann Lester, who are the founders of International Fine Art Expositions (IFAE), which sponsors and runs a prestigious roster of fairs that includes the Miami International Art Fair (MIA), American International Fine Art Fair (AIFAF), The London International Fine Art Fair (LIFAF), Art Naples Contemporary Art Fair, Naples International Art & Antique Fair and SeaFair – the Megayacht Venue.

David and Lee Ann Lester have been the pioneers of the Florida art fair market, establishing Art Miami in January, 1991, The Palm Beach International Art & Antique Fair (now AIFAF) in 1997, and Art Palm Beach in 1997.
