The Bridgeport Art Center, 1200 W. 35th St., will highlight Chicago Artists Month with a curated exhibition showcasing the work of the Artists of EastBank. The event will present a walk through of the artists’ 30 individual studios, as well as a meet-and-greet with those who have helped make Bridgeport a thriving art community. A special panel discussion on the advantages and disadvantages of working in a traditional studio space, entitled “Paths and Process,” will take place on Oct. 16 at 1 p.m. Chicago-based artists Luis De La Torre (who was raised in Bridgeport and returned to establish his studio in the neighborhood) and Gregorio Mejia will lead the discussion.
The Artists of EastBank will be displaying paintings, drawings, prints, photographs, as well as wood and metal sculptures. The artists share studio spaces at the Bridgeport Art Center, the former 500,000 sq. ft. Spiegel Catalog warehouse.
The event is Friday, Oct. 15 from 6 pm - 10 pm; Saturday, Oct. 16 from noon - 9 pm and Sunday, Oct. 17 from 1 pm - 5 pm.
