This weekend the 22nd annual Artistry in Fashion will be held at Cañada College in Redwood City. This event features designers and artisans from all over the Bay Area and beyond. Cosponsored by Cañada College’s Fashion Design Department, Artistry in Fashion will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2013 from 10 am to 4 pm.
The Designer Sale and Showcase will include the work of local designers and craftspeople, including nearly fifty different booths and artisans. For sale will be garments, bags, jewelry, wearable art, and recycled fashion.
The Fashion Department will also hold an Open House, open from 12 pm to 3 pm, where visitors can see the diverse work of students displayed, and students and faculty from the department will answer questions about the program and classes offered. If you are interested in a degree or certificate from the Fashion Department, or are merely thinking about taking a class or two to improve your skills, this is a great way to get to know the course offerings and facilities available at Cañada College.
The special guest at Artistry in Fashion for 2013 is Sandra Ericson of the Center for Pattern Design, headquartered in the North Bay. She will be presenting a fashion show showing off her pattern designs at 1:30 pm, with a following demonstration of techniques at 2:30. Ericson is a well-known pattern maker and fashion teacher as well as a popular writer on sewing and drafting techniques.
