Art Basel is one of the most culturally prestigious events held in Miami Beach each year. After collaborating to produce 5 short films and a 60-minute documentary exploring the convergence of emerging and established artistic talent, BOMBAY SAPPHIRE® gin and TV production company Leopard Films USA, have an eye-opening project that will focus the world on self-expression and artistic creation with no limits. Ovation, the only network devoted to artists and every kind of artistic expression, is the broadcast media partner on this project and will provide the US Television Premiere of the documentary this coming Monday, February 25, 2013.
The final short film collaborations were screened at Art Basel 2012 to a very receptive crowd and will once again be screened this year at the 2013 Tribeca Film Festival set to take place from April 17-28, 2013, one of the highest honors for a filmmaker. It will also get widespread exposure on the Tribeca Network in 2013 with additional global broadcast deals pending.
Five celebrity filmmakers, Freddy Rodriguez (Six Feet Under) and Danny Simmons and Laz Alonso (Avatar and NBC's Deception) and Persia White (The Vampire Diaries) and Melora Hardin (The Office), were matched up with five up-and-coming artists to create this artistic masterpiece. Each was thrilled to be able to become a mentor. All finalists were chosen in the BOMBAY SAPPHIRE® Artisan Series which is nationwide, uncovering new talent. As an innovative approach, each pair used the backdrop of their shared native city to unearth how imagination unlocks hidden beauty and potential all around us. The documentary titled 'Imagination Unleashed: An Artisan's Journey', followed these filmmakers as they developed their short films. 'Imagination Unleashed: An Artisan’s Journey', is executive produced by Academy Award®-nominated producer Lauren Lazin, and Leopard Films USA’s Michael Winter.
This series has become an annual avenue for rising film talent both nationally and internationally. Perhaps one of the greatest visions to come out of the project is to see how much commitment, determination and sacrifice these serious artists undertake to bring audiences a final product. Film and art are proven to go hand in hand to spark creativity.
The winners were announced as Houston's Jed Foronda and New York Edgartista Gonzalez.
