It has been 10 years since actress and singer Trenyce Cobbins better known as “Trenyce” made it to the top 5 of American Idol season 2.
Since then she has done TV, theater and she is currently the female lead in the Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” tribute concert in London.
In an exclusive interview with us Trenyce talked to us about music, movies, fashion and more.
FE: How was your American Idol Experience?
T: American Idol was one of the best things that ever happen to me. It taught me the ins and outs of the business, the things that can’t be taught in school. I learn what to do, what to say, to be present and most of all, it taught me discipline.
FE: You are current the female lead in Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” Tribute Concert in London, did you get to meet him?
T: Unfortunately no, I didn’t get to meet him. I was literally a few feet away from him once and I was so star struck that I wasn’t able to talk to him. I met all of his brothers, they all have come to see the show and they love it. They really endorse it.
FE: Now let’s talk fashion, you are a big fashionista, how would you describe your own personal style?
T: I have always love fashion and after Idol I love it even more because while on idol I met a fashion stylist and my fashion changed completely. I became more confident and that’s what fashion is all about. As far as my personal style I love corky things, vintage, offbeat things, but I also love glamour and Hollywood.
FE: Who are your favorite designers?
T: Balenciaga, Ferragamo and Vera Wang.
FE: What are your must have items?
T: Heels!!, I love heels of any kind and handbags, I love vintage bags.. I wear black lipstick a lot; it kind of have become my signature. I am into mixing and matching different patterns and I am really into turbans right now.Since I am in London now I love the fashion here. Topshop and Vivian Westwood are some of my favorites. What I like the most about London's fashion is that the girls here are not afraid of taking fashion risks.
FE: What are your future plans?
T: One of my biggest plans is to do more TV, film and of course music. I am working on a new album which is still untitled but before my album drops I did a record with Ludacrus that should be dropping soon. I just finished filming the sequel to the movie “Kick-Ass” that I am really excited about as well as shortfilm called “Afterglow” that was shown at the London Film Festival.
FE: We always like to end our interviews asking our guest for “Words of Wisdom” or a favorite quote, what is yours?
T: “Be the best version of you because a good name shines forever”.
