Contemporary artist Sona Mirzaei is set to show at an upcoming Italian group exhibition and mini festival at the Santa Monica Art Studios. This two night event, "All Roads Lead to LA" will feature art, wine tasting, live music and fashion. The event is co-presented by the Istituto Italiano di Cultura in Los Angeles. Santa Monica Art Studios director and co-founder Yossi Govrin has organized a festive international event with the help of curators Matteo Galbiati and Carl Berg.

Q: What will you be showing in the upcoming event?
A: I am featuring works from my Roman collection, not sure which ones yet but most likely four in total. All abstract, richly textured, oil, mixed media pieces that radiates this magnificent history, period of time, and culture.

Q: What inspired you to paint these?
A: I love Italian culture and history. Roman history was very important to me when I was studying art history. I spent countless hours at the Getty and the MET researching and being captivated by this great chapter of human history through what I believe is the most powerful medium – visual art.

Q: What are you currently working on?
A: Currently I am working on my new collection which has really great colors – bright, colorful, tons of texture and depth. I have been focusing on why I love art and abstraction; this is highlighted in this new series. I am looking forward to a solo exhibition this year with it…as well as completing my Commandments collection that has been underway for a few years now. Something that I am looking very much to completing but the pursuit and excitement of doing them has been educational and worthwhile!

Q: I understand Yossi Govrin is also an artist too. What do you think of Yossi's work?
A: I like Yossi’s work, and think that this Italian themed show will be a great outlet to exhibit his works. Some of his figurative pieces remind me of Da Vinci’s Vitruvian Man, so this would be cool to see in this show.

Q: What is it like to work with him?
A: He seems very supportive of the artists there and that’s important. He’s selective about what works are being featured and likes to work with the artist.

Q: What has his reaction been to your and your art?
A: He loves my work, thinks they have great energy, size, color, dimensions, and have tons of depth and layers.

The two night mini festival, "All Roads Lead to LA" will be held Saturday, April 5th and Sunday April 6th from 5:00 pm-9:00 pm at the Santa Monica Art Studios, located at 3026 Airport Ave. in Santa Monica.
