California girl Sarah Blaine may be considered a new artist, but the blonde beauty has been on the path to stardom her whole life.
As the child of two singers (Sarah's father used to perform with Sammy Davis Jr. for his Las Vegas shows) Sarah has been a part of the entertainment industry since she could talk. She started out in acting, booking national commercials and even a few TV roles.
But it wasn't long before she found her true calling to be a pop star. As a young adult, Sarah is already making her mark on music with the buzzworthy single, "Dance With The Devil." With a great team behind her and a tireless work ethic, the future looks bright for this 22-year-old pop princess in the making.
Sarah took some time to speak with Examiner.com about the new single, her path to stardom and her her plans for the future in music and beyond.
"Dance" definitely has a healthy electronic influence. Is there a pretty big electronic influence on the rest of the album?
A lot of it, I'd say most of it has some of that going on. There are a few songs that I've done that are a little more pop/rock but there's a lot of EDM in there. I enjoy dance music so I wanted to incorporate that into my own music.
As an LA kid it was probably a little easier for you to find the right avenues to get into entertainment than for some people elsewhere in the country. Do you think shows like American Idol and X Factor are good or bad for people trying to break into the business?
I think it depends on the way you use it. They obviously can be very helpful IF you know who you are as an artist and you can stick to that and you develop enough. If you get into the top 5 on one of those shows and you know who you wanna be after it's done it can be very helpful, but I think it's also kind of a flash in the pan thing where if you're not prepared then you have your 15 minutes and it's over. But if you're ready than it can be a good thing.
The single is out and seems to be getting a good response. Do you have a specific date for the album release yet?
We're about half way done with the album. We don't have a specific date yet but it's definitely in the works. I'm loving the writing process and just working constantly in the studio with different people and just throwing ideas out here and there. It's been great putting it all together into a cohesive work.
Who's been producing the record?
I've been working with Justin Trugman. He's been a huge influence on my music and a lot of what we have done for the album with him has been really amazing.
A lot of new artists are hesitant to take risks. Do you plan on doing anything wildly outside of your comfort zone on your debut or saving that for later?
I feel like my comfort zone is a pretty wide range (laughs). I grew up listening to a lot of different kinds of music and so I have a lot of different influences. I really enjoy pop music I think there's a reason the formula works, I think it's fun and right now I'm really enjoying finding my voice within pop.
I know you grew up immersed in the arts. Besides singing do you have any other passions that you plan on pursuing now or in the future?
I've danced my whole life all genres. That's been huge part of who I am as an artist. And I still have a passion for acting so that could be something that I definitely wanna pursue in the future. I enjoy being on camera and on stage in any fashion but right now my focus is on making great music.
