Artist, Joan Boyd, watercolor exhibit this Thursday at the Lakeview Branch

This week and next week, welcome in the New Year with a new perspective on art. The Oakland Public Library’s Lakeview Branch with be featuring works by renowned artist, Joan Boyd on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013 in the meeting room and main room.

Ms. Boyd’s exhibit, “Power and Light” consists of watercolor paintings, “built in many layers in order to capture the complexities of color and light. Her inspiration is the power of the natural world - especially the living power of openness and generosity,” according to the Lakeview Branch Art Gallery.

The artist started her life in Montgomery, Alabama and obtained her Bachelor’s of Fine Arts (BFA) degree from the University of Alabama. She has been a Signature Member of the Watercolor Honor Society (WHS) since 1988.

After attending the “Power and Light” gallery on Thursday, be sure to come back next week to meet the artist, enjoy refreshments and visit with other locals at a reception in the Lakeview Branch meeting room on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
