If you are not yet familiar with the fine art pieces of Burl Washington, then, it's past-time that you were.
We met this wonderful man a few years back at a flu clinic. He's easy to talk to and we were quickly interested in his work.
Washington is a fellow Texan and African-American artist whose pieces are vibrant, historical and in a word, beautiful.
The focus of many of his paintings relate to the forgotten history of the American West and other related subjects. Washington enjoys painting history and nostalgic Americana. His early art influences were from his parents, aunts, uncles, and teachers, along with his love of Norman Rockwell’s art on the Saturday Evening Post magazine covers.
...Washington holds an Associate in Arts Degree from Texas State Technical College in Waco and a Bachelor of Arts in Commercial Art and Advertising from the University of Texas at Arlington. He has been featured in many magazines, newspapers, and television articles, such as Southwest Art, Western Art Collectors, Wild West Magazine, Black Enterprise, InformArt, Saddle Barron, History Channel, PBS KERA Channel 13, Channel 4 Insight, Associated Press, Star-Telegram, The Dallas Morning News, etc. Washington has exhibited at West Point Military Academy in New York, Buffalo Soldier National Museum in Houston, Booth Western Art Museum in Cartersville, Ga., and Fort Concho Museum in San Angelo, to name a few. Washington’s paintings hang in prestigious galleries, museums, and the homes of celebrities and presidents. He has been awarded many best-of-show and first-place awards from regional, national, and international competitions.
