Artisan beer tasting benefit this Saturday in Beacon

For all you beer-loving environmentalists out there, there is an artisan beer tasting to benefit the restoration of the ferry sloop Woody Guthrie on Saturday, Aug. 4, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Hudson Beach Glass, 162 Main St., Beacon, NY. You can taste great beers while helping an organization that is dedicated to cleaning up the Hudson River.

The artisan beers featured at the benefit are craft brewed beers from the Hudson Valley's own Sloop Brewing Company. Each ticket holder will receive a limited edition, hand-blown pint glass, hot-stamped with a likeness of the Woody Guthrie from an original drawing by Pete Seeger. (Glass is valued at $40.) You get to taste these great local beers using your own collectible glass, signed by the artist, Kathleen Andersen.

While this is a fundraiser to benefit sloop restoration, this is also a party of like-minded people enjoying good food and music while tasting some great beers! The Beacon Sloop Club* will be serving six different craft beers. Throughout the evening, glass artist Kathleen Andersen will be demonstrating how pint glasses are made. Music will be provided by David and Jacob Bernz, with light fare provided by Sukhothai, Homespun Foods, the River Terrace, and others. All proceeds go toward the restoration of the ferry sloop Woody Guthrie.

You must purchase tickets in advance to reserve your handmade glass. Tickets are limited, only 100 will be sold, and may be purchased online, at Hudson Beach Glass, or through Sloop Brewing. Tickets are $50 each. You must be 21 or older to participate in this event.
