The last time I had been to a food coop, it was in city building, dark and dingy. There were barrels of dusty bulk grains and sad looking produce. It wasn't inspiring to go back. But Vermont's Brattleboro Food Co-op turns the stereotype on its head.
It's right up a hill from the Amtrak station -- the perfect place to grab a snack before you head on the train. It's also a bright, spacious place to get the delicacies of Vermont at a reasonable price. They have a good selection of prepared goodies, too. Their pizzas don't skimp on gourmet cheese or fresh veggies.
