Artie Lange taking Klonopin; feels 'like a pussy' (poll)
Howard Stern Show co-host and perpetual wagon-faller-offer Artie Lange returned to the show on Tuesday morning after texting in sick on Monday to cope with his depression and substance abuse recovery issues. Artie Lange told Howard Stern and the Howard Stern Show cast that his psychiatrist has now prescribed him the medication Klonopin to help him cope with his extreme anxiety and depression.
Artie Lange, a recovering heroin addict, states that he hasn't used heroin since April 2009. Artie Lange was involved in a minor fender bender in July 2009 which resulted in a DUI charge for driving while under the influence of an unidentified prescription medication. Artie Lange called in sick for two weeks in October claiming that he was too depressed and overwhelmed to even get out of bed.
Artie Lange, who has stated that he attends psychotherapy sessions three times a week, said that he told his shrink "I gotta get out of this hell. I'm ready to go get risky." This desperate statement seems to be what inspired the doctor to take mercy on Artie Lange and prescribe him the benzodiazepine Klonopin.
While the Howard Stern Show cast debated the merits of any kind of psychotherapeutic medications, Artie Lange took the healm of the U.S.S. Self-Deprecator by saying "I feel like a pussy. I should be able to say no to myself. I feel like I need a smack."

I love Klonopin, however I feel the same way, "I need a smack"
im in the same boat as Artie and a million other people. Got on Subs to kick the dope habbit and now im trying to kick the sub problem and the anxiety is relentless. I'm on Klonopin to but its just another addiction anyway. I'm 25 and been on Subs for a year and I never sleep and I'm sick of it, actually can't take it anymore. Anyway just wanted to say i'm trying to kick all of it and stop "being a pussy" like I used to not be. Plus I smoke 2 packs of cigerattes a day and drink ALOT. So I get what Artie is going through and I hope he gets over it like I'm trying to. But who knows...
