Artie Lange shouldn't be 'discussed and dissected'

artie lange suicide attempt howard stern show comment update news
Howard Stern said of Artie Lange on Monday morning: "I feel for him." (sirius.com)

Artie Lange was absent from the Howard Stern Show on Monday morning, presumably seeking help for a severe depression that spurned a violent suicide attempt by stabbing last Saturday morning.

Howard Stern was more open to discussing Artie Lange than he was during last week's broadcasts, but still tried to dampen the celebrity gossip bonfire currently devouring any details about the Artie Lange's suicide attempt with a spoon.  Artie Lange's suicide attempt and subsequent hospitalization have catapulted the tormented comedian's name to the forefront of the celebrity gossip scene.

"This is no picnic and nothing really to be picked apart discussed and dissected.  It really isn't," said Howard Stern during a discussion of Artie Lange on Monday morning's Howard Stern Show broadcast, a week after the news of Artie Lange's suicide attempt by stabbing.

Howard Stern has built an empire on discussing topics and making statements considered grossly inappropriate by the mainstream media.  Some Howard Stern Show fans are crying foul at Howard Stern's
request that his fans show a bit of tact, for once.

"The only thing that we can do as a group is wish him well and hope that he gets some help," said Howard Stern. "He's a good man.  Aside from being very talented, he's just a good guy. And I feel for him."

Come on man he is not only his friend and co-worker for ten years, Howard is also his boss. I am sure morally and ethicically it is inappropriate. Moreover, it's just not cool... Artie has deeper issues than drugs, and blasting away at him from his place of employment does not help him AT ALL. Let it go mombo..

Mrwirez- I totally understand why howard doesn't want to talk about it. I think he's a great friend. However, it's not a story that Howard Stern Show fans are going to be "letting go" ANY time soon. Also try to consider Mrwirez that mental illness, the shame connected with it and the epidemic of suicide in America are all things that thrive in silence. I'm not planning on shutting up on this. I love Artie, but I will still be covering the story. Howard shouldn't want to. That makes sense.

We ALL make cracks about celebrities. But would you do the same about your friend or relative in a case like this? Suggesting that Stern should treat Artie with anything OTHER than respect is retarded.

I understand why he doesn't want to talk about Artie Lange's suicide attempt. It's easy to talk trash about people you don't care about. For the record I blame GN for this problem ;)Darn it man!

Get better Artie. When life hands you lemons, let us make the lemonade.
