Artie Lange says that he was never fired from the Howard Stern Show and that the ultimate decision for him not to return to as the King of All Media's sidekick was "very mutual".

Lange appeared on The Joy Behar Show Thursday night and spoke about both his January 2010 suicide attempt as well as his ultimate parting of ways with the Howard Stern Show after ten years. Behar asked Lange point blank if Stern fired him, to which Lange replied:

“No. It was like a mutual sort of thing where, like, I needed help and I needed time to get help and it took a couple years, and they could not have been more supportive to me there and they said ‘Get as much help as you need’. But after a while, you know it’s time for both of us to move on. It was very mutual. But they couldn’t have been more supportive. In a lot of ways they saved my life is how I look at it. I’m very lucky to have come out of that and have more opportunities in show business…I’m very resilient. The only thing I’m missing right now are abs.”

Lange's photo and bio were only recently removed from HowardStern.com's cast page. In October, Lange began a new radio gig as the co-host of 'The Nick and Artie Show,' a comedy/sports talk radio show with Nick DiPaolo.
