Howard Stern may be avoiding Artie Lange's phone calls, but Fox Sports Radio is ready to give the comedian his first shot at a comeback.
Lange appeared on Joe Matarese's 'Fixing Joe' podcast Thursday morning and announced that his rumored Fox Sports Radio gig with Nick DiPaolo is officially a "go".
"I guess this is a good place to announce that it looks like Nick DiPaolo and I will be doing a radio show starting, I think, September 12th on Fox Sports Radio. It’s going to be in like 250 markets around the country and me and Nick are real excited about it. We did a test show and it went well and we’re going to be doing like a sports/entertainment kind of comedy show…So, we’re really psyched about it.”

Lange and DiPaolo's "test show" was a guest co-hosting spot on the Tony Bruno Show on July 13th. It also marked Artie Lange's first public radio appearance since he left the Howard Stern Show in 2009. Lange attempted suicide in January 2010 and remained completely out of the public eye for 18 months.
Lange told Matarese that they hope the show will eventually be picked up by DirecTV, at which point he and DiPaolo would broadcast from "a real pizzeria".
Lange called-in to the Dan Patrick Show on Friday and talked about his desire to return to the Howard Stern Show, but when HSS came back from vacation on Monday morning, Stern reacted to the news of Artie's return with more dread than enthusiasm.

Artie Lange also used his 'Fixing Joe' appearance to talk about the addiction and depression that led up to his suicide attempt and the recovery that followed.
