Artie Lange attempted suicide by stabbing

Artie Lange's hospitalization on Saturday was the result of a suicide attempt, says the infamous "Page Six" gossip column in the New York Post.

Artie Lange reportedly stabbed himself nine times in a suicide attempt and was apparently discovered by his mother when she came to drop off food for the depressed and drug-addled comedian.

Howard Stern began to read the Page Six story on Thursday morning's Howard Stern Show broadcast, but became too sickened to continue after reading the title and first sentence that stated "suicide" as the reason for Artie Lange's hospitalization.

"Artie's demons run deeper than I ever knew," said Howard Stern.

Artie made the show great. I hope to hear his "The Guy That Laughs at Anything" anything again. I'm afraid to hear further details. Seems like a lot of balls and anger to finally make the deep plunge 3 times after 6 hesitation wounds. I hope he's not all disfigured.

I always thought that this food his mother kept in an abundant supply would be the thing that killed him...ended up saving his life. Is that irony? I think that's irony.

dear artie,i agree with all the others now im asking you to do something for your mom and sister live, yes even after all they have been through all they want is you to live, not your money but their brother and son to stay alive and clean up. you have been paid highly your humor, now the time to earn it by working hard on yourself for free except what it would give back to your faimly , believe me when i say all your debt would be repaid to them, the world loves an underdog. with love a big supporter
