ArtCenter/South FLorida launches its 30th anniversary year-long celebration with a festive party called 'pARTy,' which will also provide patrons with the opportunity to take home a share of $100,000 worth of artwork.

The event will be held this Saturday, April 19 from 7 to 11 p.m. at the gallery/studio space located at 800 Lincoln Road. It is the first in a series of events that will culminate in a curated exhibit this fall.

"ArtCenter is a pioneer institution that has launched the career of so many notable artist in South Florida," said Miami Beach Mayor Philip Levine. "It holds a special place in the ever growing Miami Beach cultural and arts scene," he added.

"South Beach was a very different place 30 years ago, when visionary Ellie Schneiderman and other pioneer artists opened ArtCenter/South Florida back in 1984," said ArtCenter Executive Director Maria del Valle. The center, which houses both a gallery and artist's studios, is credited for helping to lead the turnaround of Lincoln Road from a retail area that had fallen upon hard times to one of the world's most popular shopping destinations.

Since opening its doors in 1984, the ArtCenter has hosted 1,000 resident artists, many of whom have gone on to become well-known. The center also attracts 100,000 visitors each year.

The chief event of the center's annual parties is the raffle, which is called "winningART." This year, each of the ArtCenter's 34 artists have donated a work of art, which will be raffled off individually. Patrons buy raffle tickets only for the individual piece they want to win, which means that the chances of winning vary. Tickets are $20 each. The artwork can be viewed here.

Admission to the party is $30 or $100 for a VIP package that admits two guests and includes five raffle tickets.
