Art With Heart: Celebrating 10 years

Celebrating its 10th Anniversary, Art with Heart, an annual art auction benefiting United Family Services' domestic violence programs will be held February 6, 2010.

What began in 1999 as a group of local women combining their resources to plan a fun benefit to raise money for a local non-profit, has since turned into an annual event that has raised over $650,000 for United Family Services' domestic violence programs through ticket sales, corporate sponsorships, a raffle, and items sold via live and silent auction.

This group of women has since grown to be approximately fifty strong, and with participation by some of the region's top artists, Art With Heart has become one of the largest art events in Charlotte over the past nine years. What has turned into a noteworthy social event still remains true to its core and mission of fundraising. The funds raised just last year enabled the agency to serve over 8,000 women and children in 2008, which is crucial since United Family Services is the county’s only resource for domestic violence programs.

Despite these hard economic times...well actually, in light of them, Art With Heart is hoping to make their 10th Anniversary another successful year. The families United Family Services serve in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg region are feeling the economic stresses more than ever and with corporate cut-backs and less money being distributed to non-profits like United Family Services, they truly need individual support.
