In a sea of art

There are many talented artists throughout the region, but for the area of southeastern Massachusetts, a wealth of art exists as unique as its coastline. The artists of Cape Cod are distinguished by their diverse use of the arts and their expressions and interpretations of the area's hidden beauty. From impressionism to the abstract, the variety of art in the galleries on Cape Cod can provide a glimpse into what these artists enjoy capturing and sharing. Amongst numerous galleries there are also various art centers that offer special programs, events and exhibits, and several workshops and classes. Many of these are maintained and taught by some of Cape Cod's finest artists.

Known to many Massachusetts residents as a popular vacation spot, Cape Cod and the surrounding islands of Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket house many well-known and famous artists, writers, and the like. It is also the historical home of the Wampanoags. Whether an art connoisseur or seeking a gift for someone, each town harbors a diversity of artistic options. Some which include beautiful seaside landscapes, lighthouses, nature trails, and lovely sunsets. During the summer, the population nearly triples in size but it is a great time to enjoy the many beaches, galleries, and restaurants. Many galleries close for the winter season, but several seasonal festivals and parties take place that do not include throngs of people. This allows for a perfect time to meet Cape Cod artists and view their work.

For travel to and from Cape Cod, the Plymouth & Brockton Railway offer year-round bus services from Boston to Hyannis. There is also a train service offered during the summer, as well as during the holiday season. It's important to arrange trips in advance if planning to travel during summer months. If driving, be aware that traffic on the two main highway routes leading to both of Cape Cod's bridges will be backed up.

As a student and fellow artist, I admire other artists 'on Cape' for their ability to thrive and share their work with many. They hold the gift of allowing every one who views their art, the chance to take peace and tranquility home with them. Along with its unique location, the real artistic beauty of Cape Cod, is that it maintains its own natural art while romancing the eyes of many.
