Art Shanghai 2012 will take place from May 10-14 and it will be celebrating its 10th anniversary introducing a breakthrough in the established and traditional exhibition conception.
For such commemorative occasion and with a fresh new gesture, the fair will present a platform rich in content and novel.
China has become the number one largest art market in the world, challenging the United States and Britain for prominence with a distinctive rising collector class.
"Research shows that Chinese collectors who once invested in traditional works of art, are now rapidly embracing the contemporary art market with a younger generation of affluent consumers driving record sales in this fast and developing area of the world," said Aldo Castillo, Associate Director of the new edition of The Latin American Pavilion & The International Wing 2012.
Castillo, who comes fresh of working as an Associate Director for the American Pavilion Shanghai Art Fair 2011, says that Shanghai has recently emerged as a critical cultural platform attracting worldwide attention for its interest in international art trends.
"Since its establishment in 2003, ART Shanghai has been successfully held for nine consecutive years gaining reputation for exhibiting high quality of works and providing excellent professional service to exhibitors," said Castillo.
This edition of Art Shanghai will continue to host the presence of the Latin American Pavilion & The International Wing, organized by Bandi-Trazos with a space dedicated to the highest quality of Latin American art and Western art from masters and contemporaries.
Art Shanghai 2012 will be held in Hongqiao New Town Central Park based on its advantage of location in the Hongqiao Development Zone and its ecological natural environment. This year the fair will be launching Carnival as the form of the exhibition, thus the name Art Shanghai Hong Qiao Arts Carnival.
Located in the triangle encircled by Yan'an Rd., Hongqiao Rd. and Yili Rd., this is also the first time for achieving the conception of outdoor exhibition in Asia.
The New Town Central Park covers an area of 130,000 square meters and borders on professional art institutes such as Shanghai Oil Painting & Sculpture Institute and Liu Haisu Art Gallery with a large number of elite visitors from numerous top office buildings and most populated elite communities and villas in the downtown area of Shanghai in Gubei and the West Suburb in its vicinity.
