In the quaint, older neighborhood of Oliver-Eakle, some artistic appeal in Amarillo can be found. This neighborhood contains not only some architecturally beautiful homes and architectural details in some of the Amarillo College – Main campus buildings that border on the west side of the neighborhood, but AC offers some great art itself. Amarillo College houses the Amarillo Museum of Art (AMoA), where patrons can view exhibits among several galleries. AMoA also features art exhibitions from time to time, allowing Amarilloans the opportunity to view art from artists from other walks of the world, giving a vivid picture of unique aesthetics and views. Aside from the art on the walls at AMoA and the stunning artistic statues in front, AC also offers performing art through both the AC Lamplight Youth Theatre, in which children ages 8 through 18 can participate in classes and perform in productions and the AC Theatre where students studying the theater at Amarillo College can get first hand experience in acting as well as behind the scenes technical skills. And, while students hone their skills, Amarilloans can enjoy their talent at several productions each year. The next opportunity to enjoy an Experimental Theatre at Amarillo College production is October 16-17 and 22-24 with the theater’s production of Macbeth.
