The season is ripe for cherries. Here are some cherry pictures from today’s hike. Also, shown in the slideshow are two of Deborah Taylor’s cherry paintings. Deborah often paints fruit and landscapes. She is an active member of Arlington Artists Alliance located at the Blue Studios in Crystal City next door to Gallery Underground.
“Deborah Taylor is a contemporary impressionist oil painter whose favorite studio is the great outdoors. She specializes in plein air landscape painting as well as still lifes painted from set ups in her home studio.
“My goal is to say what I want to say in a painting with as few strokes of the brush as possible. This encourages me to focus intently on a subject while at the same time looking at the big picture; lights and darks, shadows and color temperatures. I am inspired by many things, a flower, sun on an old pick up truck, bright red bell peppers or hills on a foggy day.”
Cherry trees harken back boyhood days when I would stand next to a tree and munch until I couldn’t spit another seed or my stomach ached, whichever came first.
