Martha’s Village & Kitchen announces the election of Arthur R. “Art” Martin to its Board of Directors. Martin brings a wealth of experience in the real estate and financial sectors to the board, particularly in commercial real estate.
Martin has served as the President and CEO of Tribune Properties, Inc. in Chicago, where he managed the Tribune Company’s nationwide real estate holdings. As Vice President for Corporate Real Estate for the R.R. Donnelley & Sons Co., he restructured the division to become more customer service oriented while still meeting company goals.
Serving on the Board of Martha's is another example of his long commitment to the communities where he works and lives beginning with his service in the U.S. Army Reserve. He was a member and then chairman of Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) in Chicago and created the Chicago Neighborhood Development Awards. As board chair of Habitat for Humanity of the Roaring Fork Valley in Colorado, he led the organization which successfully provided home ownership to those who otherwise could not afford it.
"I am really happy and also honored to join the board of such a great organization whose work is so important. The staff and board members of Martha's are dedicated, bright and very hard working. I very much look forward to helping Martha's achieve its mission of transforming lives."
Now dividing his time between Colorado and his new home in the Coachella Valley, Martin plans to bring his eye for corporate governance and his passion to help the homeless break the cycle of poverty to Martha’s Village & Kitchen.
