KiKi works in colored pencil, graphite and acrylic, but it’s her painted eggs that have attracted considerable attention of late. KiKi started painting eggs in the 1990s. She paints the surface in acrylic, and has even painted a series of up to 24 eggs with a common theme. Even more distinctive is her “Cracked Egg” art, in which she breaks a painted egg and then applies the pieces of painted shell to a painted canvas. ”[My art is] my own,” KiKi asserts. “I don’t like copying others. All art is inspired through divine spirit, and that spirit is my muse.”
Brewsaugh has been busy. Her art has been displayed in various shows this year at the Art League, Alliance for the Arts, Arts for ACT Gallery, Art at the Oasis Condominium Penthouse, and the Harborside Event Center for Cele-bra-tion, an event that benefits the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation. She also donated an art piece to Global Community Engagement for a silent auction fundraiser at the performance of The Vagina Monologues to benefit Abuse Counselling and Treatment (ACT), the non-profit agency that provides safe shelter and counselling services to victims of domestic violence (and their children), survivors of sexual assault (and their families) and the new and temporarily homeless. (ACT also provides a 24-hour crisis hotline, forensic examinations, advocacy, education, information and referrals.
