If you were looking for a great way to celebrate a slightly, cloudy overcast day, today was the day to visit Art Lab. Art Lab, the art school located in the lush grounds of Snug Harbor in Livingston, Staten Island had a full afternoon and evening of activities planned. The day proved to give those in attendance an afternoon of art, good friends, and other artistic endeavors at a series of gallery events held at the school July 12. Many stuck around the North Shore so they could re-join Art Lab on the evening hours for a continuation of art appreciation at “Art Lab After Dark” last night. For more information about yesterday's highlights visit http://artlab.info.
If you miussed the opening party for Art Lab's plein-air painting class you can still view the work up in the gallery most of the summer. “Join Art Lab and the artists of our Plein Air class as they unveil their recent works. Plein Air painters of today follow in the tradition of painters who have for centuries painted in the “open air.” The French Impressionists popularized this method of painting,” adds a statement by Art Lab.
The Art Lab Hallway Student Exhibition:Drawing & Applied Arts and “Plein Air” at the school’s opening reception was held yesterday (July 12) from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. If you missed yesterday's reception you can visit Art Lab when you are next on the North Shore. The gallery exhibit of student work will be hung through August 24th, 2014. All are welcome to stop by and a visit to Art Lab’s gallery space is free and open to the public. If you visited "Art Lab After Darlk from 7 p.m. on you could see thingNY present a new work. You could also view works for Dance Film by David Dillio and Melissa West. Staten Island art fans in attendance were not disappointed!
