The entire room was adorned in paintings and drawings all done by, "The Art Kids of San Diego County." The paintings were all mounted on the walls of the Bonita Museum and Cultural Center located on Bonita Road in Bonita California. The paintings represented the art work of young artists from six to thirty four years old. From paintings worth $5,000.00 to a mere $200.00 were all represented at November's exhibition.
These paintings were a small representation of the example of talent this young group has as they continue to beautify the south bay area of San Diego. The group does a great deal of community service throughout the south bay area as they help with project from creating banners for the Chula Vista Marina, paint utility boxes, create and paint murals and exhibit their work at museums and the local Superior Court in Chula Vista.
Their aim is to bring awareness to the visual arts throughout the south bay area. Art is a very important part of our everyday life whether we realize it or not. There is graphic arts which make advertising and company logos possible. Then we have commercial art making the dull into the interesting when businesses plan a campaign for their company. Everywhere one looks they can see the results of what art can do for a community. Billboards are full of graphic art examples as well as signs and displays within department stores.
These young artists are just making the awareness more apparent for those who have forgotten how important art is to a community. They are hoping that by bringing more art out in the open that people will appreciate the visual arts and possibly support their efforts within the various small communities through the south bay area.
