This Friday (September 20th, 2013) about 20-30 students at the Art Institute of California - Los Angeles presented their portfolio projects to industry professionals, employers, and the student's families and friends.
The quarter system school presents a portfolio show every three months, showing the world what their graduates could do before they are sent off into the world. The majors include Digital Filmmaking and Video Production, Audio Production, Visual Effects and Motion Graphic Design, Game Art, Fashion, Web Design and Interior Design.
What stood out most to me among them all were the presentations of three students.
Ruby Flores' demo reel presented a glamorous compilation of her previous work from her "Victoria Secret" Commercial back in 2011 to a short film called "Hunt for Usama Bin Laden" and "Like a Hippie" Music Video in 2013.
Cory Carpenter's presentation of his newest short film "Connect" was heartwarming. He didn't mind giving useful advices to younger film students who attended the portfolio show.
Visual Effects and Motion Graphic Design Student:
Sam Rosenblatt's presentation of a promo video he made for the popular TV series "Elementary" on CBS was astonishing.
Overall, the students presented some great work, and I would not be surprised if they win an Emmy award next year.
If you missed the portfolio show yesterday, remember to RSVP for the next portfolio show here: http://www.aiportfolioshow.com/losangeles/
I'll see you there!
