Judith Russi Kirshner has been given the new job of the Deputy Director for Education and Woman's Board Endowed Chair at the Art Institute of Chicago following a national search.

Kirshner's duties will be to evaluate the museum's educational efforts, collaborations, and partnership programs in order to bring the community at large in to see what the museum has to offer, and whether that fulfills the goals of the museum to enrich the audience's needs.

Kirshner who was offered the position after a nationwide search, has since 1998 served as the Dean of the College of Architecture and the Arts at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Her list of experience and accomplishments is long and includes work in Chicago's Museum of Contemporary Art and the Terra Museum of American Art, as well as work as a scholar and critic.

She will assume her new position at the Art Institute on March 1, 2013.
