Friday Oct, 4th will be your last chance to catch a Curious Quail show before they embark on their next musical epoch. Art Boutiki will also play host to a 4 band bill that includes two acts from Berkeley and two from San Jose. It also happens to be CQ songwriter, Mike Shirley-Donnelly’s birthday (and there’s even been word of cake - don’t quote me on that).
Berkeley solo artist, Kyle M. Terrizzi, goes by the moniker, The Plastic Arts, and he’ll grab the early support slot; Terrizzi specializes in songwriting of the folk/pop/rock persuasion. San Jose’s own Dogcatcher will follow, bringing their dance-able brand of folk/groove/rock to the stage, while Big Tree, another Berkeley act, comes back to San Jose, touting their psych-rock stylings.
But Curious Quail makes the headline slot, as the San Jose 5-piece comes fresh off a performance at this years C2SV. CQ has been beyond busy this year playing festivals (Live 105’s BFD, C2SV), penning an original performance art piece (Instant Gratification), and now heading back to the studio to record their next album. The kickstarter funded project raised a whopping $4,000 over the original $6,000 pledge goal, set by the band in August. Consequently, CQ will be going on hiatus while the finish the project .
The show starts at 7:30 p.m. with the cost of admission being set at $10, open to all ages.
