Art 101: What and where is the arts hub in Columbia South Carolina

The Columbia Museum of Art is definitively the arts’ hub of the capital city – Columbia, SC. Anchoring the corner of Main and Hampton streets, and set back in a public plaza, CMA is open Wednesday through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and other hours during special exhibitions and programming, showcasing a range of art from Baroque and Renaissance to contemporary. With 21,000 square feet of exhibition space, plus a 160 seat auditorium, reception area, and museum shop, CMA is the largest museum in South Carolina. Located within a few blocks of the state capital, it is an imposing presence within the cultural fabric of the metropolitan area, affecting quality of life within a wide geographic parameter.
