Those of us who are overjoyed that host and executive producer Arsenio Hall is back on late night TV with “The Arsenio Hall Show” were treated to an amazing show less than 48 hours ago, wherein Ervin “Magic” Johnson appeared on Wednesday night, September 11, 2013.

Meanwhile, the pair joked easily, as old friends, and spoke of Magic appearing 27 years ago with the talk show host as he spoke of his recent HIV-positive diagnosis.
“God is good,” Magic told Arsenio.
“All the time,” Arsenio shot back, that famous call-and-response reply so common to church folks.
Then the comedian and honest man in the late night talk show host emerged, saying, “I know God is good because I don’t even give as much money to the church as you do.”
It was a funny moment. Although neither man revealed which church they attend, their ease of speaking about God’s goodness was heartening to witness, along with Johnson’s recollections of visiting the White House and advising President Obama on his successful urban businesses, telling the Commander in Chief how to bring jobs to areas in need of revitalization.
On the same episode, comedian George Lopez appeared, causing the audience to become so excited during his stand-up routine that they stood up as well, the entire time Lopez riffed about black and Latinos together, and the hair situation that melding often causes.
Overall, it was a great show, wrapped up by Nas, who was brought to the show after Arsenio’s friend urged him to listen to a Nas track that stated, “Bring back Aresnio.”
Apparently God was listening.
