Martín Palermo remained undefeated as coach of Arsenal but the result was a disappointing one as his squad were not able to get a result against Chilean side Union Española. This match was the final match of the round of 16 in the Copa Libertadores and both teams head back to Santiago with a scoreless draw.
Despite not getting a goal, Palermo was pleased with the effort but obviously not with the result. "Scoring a goal would force them to have to make two," said Palermo after the match. Union Española were the more proactive team throughout the 90 minutes and his squad was able to accomplish their main objective- keep a clean sheet.
For Palermo, there will another important match for him to be able to get his squad back on track after what has been a dismal semester domestically currently in 19th place ( on goal differential) with 14 points. He will look to revert their fortunes as Arsenal will head to his old stomping ground at La Bombonera against Boca Juniors.
"It will be special. One remembers the great memories ones lived. It moves you. I already had to go through it with Godoy Cruz," said Palermo. "Now we have to be focusing on the getting a positive result."
