Arrowhead moves on with 11-6 victory over Waunakee

A tight, stifling defense and five goals from senior midfielder Daniel DiGiacomo made the difference as Arrowhead knocked off #1 seed Waunakee. The outcome was a reversal from the team’s previous meeting this season, when Waunakee defeated Arrowhead 10-9. It wasn’t to be today for the Waunakee Warriors, however, as Arrowhead jumped out to an early two goal lead and never looked back. Their aggressive, physical defense frustrated the Waunakee offense, who were never really able to get into an offensive rhythm. Arrowhead on the other hand, dominated possession with a deliberate offense led by DiGiacomo and attackmen Ross Broderick and Drew Meyer, who finished with two and three goals respectively. Senior attacker Kyle Dahmen led all Waunakee scorers with three goals. Waunakee senior keeper Matt Prochaska kept the score close for much of the game, finishing with 11 saves, but in the end Arrowhead proved to be to much. The better team won today, as Arrowhead played their game throughout, possessing the ball and never allowing Waunakee to establish themselves on offense.

The Arrowhead Warhawks advance to the state semifinals where they will face the winner of the game between Middleton and Marquette. For additional scores and information please visit www.wisconsinlacrosse.com
