Arrowhead homicide: Altercation at Arrowhead Stadium leaves 1 dead

An Arrowhead homicide has unnerved NFL fans. One man is dead and three are in custody when an altercation took place after the Kansas City Chiefs and Denver Broncos game Sunday. The Arrowhead Stadium killing is being investigated as a "suspicious" death at this time.

The Arrowhead Stadium death was not the result of a Broncos-Chiefs rivalry gone awry as some are speculating over on social media, according to a Dec. 2 CNN report.

Moreover, the Arrowhead homicide investigation is not ruled a murder. Instead, police detectives are treating it just as if it were a criminal investigation in similar fashion.

At this time, we're not calling it a homicide, but we'll investigate it as one," said Captain Tye Grant with KCPD.

Sources say a man returned to his vehicle in the Arrowhead parking lot and allegedly found an unknown person inside who did not have permission. At some point, an altercation broke out and one man was left unconscious on the sidewalk at Arrowhead Stadium, where police and paramedics found him.

Medics said the man, in his twenties, was not breathing at the time of arrival. He was transported to a nearby hospital and was pronounced dead a short time later.

It's unclear why the deceased man had been in the vehicle. Police say it could have been purely by mistake. As such, a toxicology report will likely confirm or rule out if alcohol or drugs were factors.

Meanwhile, Kansas City police officers took three people into custody, but are only calling them "persons of interest" at this time.
