Fans of the popular superhero television drama Arrow can expect to meet a new character soon. Entertainment Weekly reported on Tuesday, Jan. 22, that British actress Alex Kingston has been cast in the recurring role of Dinah Lance. The British actress is well known for her role on the long running medical drama ER and her recent stint on the BBC series Doctor Who.
Dinah Lance is the mother of Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy) and the ex-wife of Detective Quentin Lance (Paul Blackthorne) who left her family and Starling City after the tragic death of her youngest daughter Sarah when the Queen family yacht sank. The arrival of Laurel's mother will help fill in the blanks between the aftermath of the accident and the current day events of Starling City.
Based on the adventures of the masked vigilante Green Arrow from DC Comics, Kingston is just the latest actress cast for the hit show. Teen Wolf star Colton Haynes is expected to appear as Roy Harper, the sidekick to Green Arrow (Stephen Amell) and love interest for Thea Queen (Willa Holland), in the upcoming episode "Dodger." Once Upon a Time actor David Anders will also appear in an future episode.
Arrow airs Wednesday nights at 8 p.m. on the CW Network. There is no information about when Kingston will make her first appearance on the show.
