'Arrow' season 3: David Ramsey on Diggle and Lyla, the Suicide Squad and more

Are you ready to find out more about John Diggle? That's what's coming up in "Arrow" season 3, as David Ramsey revealed in the press room at San Diego Comic-Con. On Friday, Aug. 1, we uploaded our video interview from the roundtable with the actor, and he teased quite a bit about what to expect in the fall.

"The show just doesn't hurt for stories," the actor said. "And now with Suicide Squad, A.R.G.U.S., H.I.V.E., that's a series if you wanted to do it." Yes, season 3 is going to dive deeper into all of that, and Diggle is very much part of it. "I'm good," Ramsey insisted when asked if he wants his own costume and code name, but admitted, "There's been discussion about who John Diggle really is in the DC universe." For now, "they really want to get involved in this whole A.R.G.U.S. thing and Suicide Squad and the investigation of H.I.V.E., the organization that hired Deadshot to kill Andy. We'll be seeing that in some flashbacks of who Andy was, because Andy wasn't the guy that John Diggle thinks he was."

Expect to see his relationship with A.R.G.U.S. "fleshed out." "He has both a role with Suicide Squad and with A.R.G.U.S., and that's going to be clear, very clear, in the beginning part of this season, that A.R.G.U.S. will play a big role in assisting the team, and Diggle and Lyla, Lyla, who's now the head of A.R.G.U.S., will be a big part of that, and who knows? She may not be the head of ARGUS by the end of the season," the actor teased.

On the topic of Diggle and Lyla, he likes seeing that relationship played out on "Arrow." "That's a grown folks' storyline. Diggle and Lyla, they're adults, and it's nice to have that story being told, and it's a nice look on television, you know, just them two. And now there's a baby, so it's a nice energy on the show," he explained, adding, "Now, of course, Diggle has a major love interest and a baby. Major risk!"

And if you're worried about Oliver's financial situation and what that could mean for Diggle, it sounds like you don't need to be, at least not for long. "We're going to get into that right away," the actor revealed. "Oliver will get money from a very special source."

Speaking of Oliver, the Comic-Con trailer showed a bit of conflict between him and Diggle. "I think there's always going to be a bit of a big brother/little brother type of thing between them. I think Diggle's never afraid to stand up to Oliver and call him on his B.S. and I think he's probably one of the few people that can go toe-to-toe with him," Ramsey said. "I think he loves him, but I think Diggle thinks this is just as much his crusade now as it is Oliver's and he has a place in it and when that's challenged by anybody, he's going to stand up to him, including Oliver."

One episode in particular that he teased is episode 3, in which there'll be more fighting and they go away someplace he couldn't reveal. However, he did say, "it's a big Diggle episode."
