Here's some casting news that is sure to excite you. On Wednesday, Oct. 23, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that "Firefly's" Sean Maher will be appearing in "Arrow" season 2 as a villain from DC Comics.
Maher will be appearing in episode 10 as Mark Scheffer, the supervillain Shrapnel, who is made of metal and has superhuman strength and stamina. The serial bomber sets his sights on Starling City and threatens Sebastian Blood's (Kevin Alejandro) life. But how much of what is known of Shrapnel's past in the comics universe will be part of the show? That's not yet certain, but he was married and did have two daughters. It sounds like Oliver (Stephen Amell) is going to have is work cut out for him. But could Arrow saving Blood change some things in Starling City?
Maher isn't the first "Firefly" alum to stop by this season; Summer Glau, who played his sister on the cult series, is recurring as Isabel Rochev. And Shrapnel is just one of many DC Comics characters in the show this season. "Arrow" is firing on all cylinders right now, and this casting news is just another example of that.
"Arrow" season 2 airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. on the CW. What do you think of the latest casting news? Are you looking forward to seeing Sean Maher as Shrapnel?
