Oliver's (Stephen Amell) options against Slade (Manu Bennett) may be limited. At least, that's what he seems to think in the upcoming "Arrow" episode, 221, "City of Blood," written by Holly Harold and directed by Michael Schultz. The CW released promotional photos teasing what to expect on Wednesday, April 23.

In this upcoming episode, Oliver makes a decision after Slade threatens to take away everything he loves. He thinks the fastest way to stop further bloodshed is to surrender to his enemy, but the only problem is that if he surrenders, it means certain death for Oliver. Because of that, Diggle (David Ramsey) and Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) go to extreme measures to keep Oliver from confronting Slade.

Meanwhile, Thea (Willa Holland), who hasn't had it easy lately at all, considers leaving town. Elsewhere, Laurel (Katie Cassidy) resumes her crusade against Sebastian Blood (Kevin Alejandro). Finally, Slade unleashes his assault on Starling City.

The "City of Blood" photos in the slideshow offer a look at Blood seemingly taking a moment before getting up to address the army, with his mask on. Meanwhile, the Arrow is going to have his work cut out for him as he faces off with Mirakuru soldiers, and this fight is not going to be easy.

In fact, at one point, he ends up at the mercy of one of them, and it looks like it's going to be Laurel who comes to his rescue, presumably because her investigation into Blood leads her to that location. Is Laurel's distraction going to be what the Arrow needs to take down that Mirakuru soldier? Even if he takes down one, there's a whole army, and it looks like the only choice he and Laurel are really going to have is to run.

"Arrow" season 2 airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. on the CW. What do you think of these episode 21 "City of Blood" photos?
